Update on: Give Me A Home

I’ve discussed my intentions to MrWabbit I’d be willing to write to the S.P.C.A. but he said I should drop it. We never know what her background is and what other problems could come my way by my questioning her intentions for not wanting to give up her dog, or any dogs. (I have never ever been refused anything in my life before, so you can imagine I need to chew on this for a while longer lol – darn right I was pouting and analyzing and wondering why.)

I did get an offer from a neighbour of sorts (in my area – word gets around quickly) I could have a puppy, male or female, golden retriever. By chance we have the same vet so this put us both on a good start. Sometimes this week I will go there to choose which one I want – I will probably choose the female. And then room and board her there with her mommy and siblings until she is old enough to be separated from her mom.
Tomorrow I will pick up a nice bed for the new lady, a collar and a leash and oh yes of course a blanket, make the vet appointment for her checkup and then get the ball rolling.

For any rescue or adopting agency that should by chance read this I would like to mention. Dogs are pack animals, they naturally herd. Not like you might imagine a border collie herd sheep with the command given by a shepherd but in their own natural and relaxed way. But it’s not just dogs, it’s any animal that is used to being in a group, such as cows, horses, gazelles, deer, wolves, pride …. Well you get the picture. Never been herded by a horse before? A little nudge in your back? See one learns something new every day. Dogs love the outdoors, they thrive better, enjoy life better and live longer by enjoying the outdoors. A dog that is kept inside 24/7 to watch TV or just waste away in my eyes is considered abuse. Common logic of balance, it’s really quite simple.
So if ever in the future someone is calling wanting to give an abandoned dog a loving home, hear them out. Living in the country is probably the best place to live both for humans and animals. Herding cats away from the fence is a natural activity for a dog once the dog is allowed to follow the natures of a dog and not regarded as a toy or possession. Being a watch dog is a natural activity for a dog unless it is a sick dog. Protecting its territory from predators by sounding out an alarm is another common occurrence in a dog’s behaviour unless the dog is sick. If you have dogs that are contrary to any of these characteristics you shouldn’t advertise to adopt them out but invest into a good veterinarian.
